Nekked Lizards Fun Monday

Miss Jo Beaufoix is this week's Fun Monday Hostess.... Her assignment is:

I’d like to know all about your first celebrity crush.   Be it on pop star, film star, newsreader, politician, whatever.

I want to know if you dressed like them, coloured your hair like them, met them, married them?? And if you have pics, of them, or even better, of you, then we’d love to see them.

Also, did your ‘love’ for them have any affect on the person you became or were they just an embarrassing blip that you would kind of rather forget?

From NLL:  I didn't realize how freaky this post was going to be.  Below are 2 pictures. 

The 1st picture is Bobby Sherman, who I was in LUV-with in the early 70's during my pre-teen years.  I dreamt of spending the rest of my life with him.  The 2nd picture is of NLM from the 1970's, too.

I guess I DID find my Bobby Sherman to spend the rest of my life with...

I have no idea. I can't remember too many female pop or rock stars, other than Olivia Newton-John - and I think it was her accent - I knew it wasn't Texan. Perhaps Barbie Benton, but for some reason, I might have been influenced by Playboy. Maybe it was her attire during her stint on "Hee-Haw"  - here's a then and now.

For probably the same reason, Bo Derek was the subject matter of many puberty-influenced young lad.

As for the 80s, I think the biggest band with a female front, was Scandal. They were always titled,  "Scandal - featuring Patty Smyth". Their hits included, Good bye To You, The Warrior, and Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough  - a duet with Eagles' Don Henley. For reality's sake I believe it was (what I termed) the simple and possibly attainable girl next door.

Of course, there was never such a girl like her next door, but in the early 80s, I thought it was good to keep goals high.

As I matured (I have to salvage this post now to remain alive), I have found that an awesome body was not everything (this is tough) but in addition, I wanted intelligence, a practical sense of the world, and someone who I could grow old together. I found that in NLL, in the mid 90s, and we've been together since. If I live through this Fun Monday, we'll be together a little longer. ... NLM

NLM - Barbie certainly seems to have aged well. I always thought she was cute - and I wasn't influenced by her, er, assets. Still, I think you won out in the end! Even Hugh got tired of Barbie, but NLL is still around!

Where was I when old Bobby was the hottest thing since Mt. Vesuvius??? I guess the fact that I never bothered to listen to the radio until I was in junior high was part of my problem.
